THE ROOMS
Suite Louise de Savoie
Located upstairs overlooking the chateau, this superb 40 m² suite is a kind of memorial to honor Marie Josephine Louise de Savoie, Countess of Provence, wife of King Louis xviii. She was queen only posthumously as she died in the year 1810, before her husband should gain the throne of France. She was the sister-in- law of Louis xvi and Marie-Antoinette.
The salon with it's warm tinted walls, ornate cornice ceilings and Restauration period furniture creates the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and reveries of this golden age of french history.
A large double bed (200x160) with antique canopy faces a lovely marble fireplace.
A Charles X period single bed with canopy offers to you sitting place in the lounge part. That one could be used as a bed for an extra person (190x120).
A private bathroom was newly fitted in the tower to replace the antique.
In the square tower adjacent to the salon, there is a separate toilet and antique stone hand-basin.
Finally, by a large glass door, one enters on the private 15m2 terrace. Terracotta floors of burgundy and old stone balustrade. You can enjoy tea or drink, sitting comfortably on old garden chairs and admire the old village of Valensole clinging to its hill. Below, you can overlook the gardens “à la française” in the first creation step.
Suite Eugénie
This 28 m² suite, situated on the second floor of the chateau is a veritable little memorial in homage to the Empress Eugénie. The richly raspberry tinted walls, the ornate cornice ceillings and the sumptuous wall hangings harmonise perfectly with the Napoleon iii period furniture recreating the grandiose atmosphere of the second empire. The romantic bedroom features an imposing canopied double bed, a mirrored wardrobe and an exquisite example of Boule furniture. Beyond the bedroom is a charming 'salon' decorated in the spirit of a 'jardin d'hiver' (winter garden) typical of this epoch and furnished with a writing table, chairs and an armchair. There is a pretty little ensuite bathroom and, in the square tower adjacent to the bedroom, a separate toilet and antique wash/hand basin. The large window of the salon overlooks the gardens à la française flourishing in their primary stage of creation an the lodge house which flanks the monumental wrought iron gates.
Room Marie- Antoinette

The pastel tinted walls and ornate cornice ceilings create the perfect setting for the Louis xvi period furniture. An impressive canopied double bed faces a beautiful marble fireplace. Two built in wardrobes with original wood panelled doors provide ample storage space for clothes etc. The interior shuttered windows, hung with curtains of 'toile de Jouy' which match the bed canopy, overlook the gardens. A small door leads to the attractive ensuite bathroom installed in the octagonal tower (where the original bathroom used to be) and two little arched windows give a glimpe of the gardens.
Room Joséphine
This delightful 25 m² bedroom, situated on the second floor of the chateau, recalls the atmosphere of happy times of the Consulat and the empire at Malmaison, where Josephine gaily played hide and seek with her friends on the lawns of the park or the parlour game of tric-trac in the drawing rooms of the chateau. Deep green painted walls ornate cornice ceilings harmonise with the empire period furniture. Two twin canopied beds face a pretty marble fireplace, and two built-in wardrobes with original wood panelled doors provide ample storage space. The large window with it's interior shutters, hung with curtains matching the bed canopies, overlooks the gardens. The ensuite bathroom tiled with pastel blue faïence echoes the skies of provence.
Room Belle Epoque
Situated on the top floor, this 20 m² room plunges the visitor straight into the atmophere of the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition and evokes the debut of aviation and the motor car. The terra cotta colored walls and plaster work ceiling are the perfect foil for its 1900's period furniture consisting of two « art deco » beds (200x90), a bedside cupboard, chest of drawers, cane armchair, writing table and two chairs.
