A military site from the 12th century onward, the Sédaiges castle was in the middle of the Franco - English conflicts that raged in medieval Auvergne. Rebuilt as a fortress in the 15th century and extensively decorated in the 18th, this impressive chateau is also a unique example of the Troubadour architecture of the 19th century.
The same family has always lived there, enabling it to maintain an outstanding level of interior decoration. Visitors can relive scenes from “Les Malheurs de Sophie” (« Sophie’s Misfortunes » children’s literature by the Comtesse de Ségur, 1864) in its superb private rooms.
Against a dazzling backdrop of wooden panelling and tapestries listed as national treasures, the period costumes and figures, antique games and ceremonial china, bring back all the charm of a time gone by. A warm family welcome by the hostess herself awaits you at the château, where you can enjoy free use of the rooms of the chateau, as well as its park and swimming pool.

Another “must” for tourists is Pesteils, whose 15th century keep, frescos, furnishings, tapestries and paintings, bring to life the history of this aristocratic seat.
Chapels : The numerous quaint Romanesque chapels scattered throughout the the nearby mountains make superb stop-offs for hikers and tourists.
