HOME
Le grand bois, originally a cognac producing farmstead, has been tastefully converted into our home together with two gites and an enclosed swimming pool in our large wooded garden. La Vieille Etable~Gitehas 6 bedrooms and sleeps up to 12 people and La Petite Grange~Gitewith 1 bedroom sleeps up to 4. Both gites are Charente Tourisme classified. Le grand bois was constructed around the 1850's as a small farm with outbuildings around a courtyard, with a well providing the water supply, a stone oven in which to bake the bread and stables for the farm animals. This has now been converted into our home, a large gite which can accomodate up to 12 persons and a small gite which sleeps 2 to 4 persons.
The gites have their own private entrance with parking for up to six cars. The bread oven and well remain but we have built a 10 x 5 meter swimming pool in the garden for the exclusive use of our clients. The garden has lots of fruit trees and nut trees and plenty of space to disappear with a glass of wine and a book.
At le grand bois~Gites you can enjoy a peaceful, stress-free holiday beside the swimming pool or you can use the superb facilities to explore the many attractions and places of interest offered by the south-west region of France.

The small gite is ideal as a base for house hunting or exploring.

THE ROOMS
Le Grand Bois is situated in the delightful rolling french countryside, on the outskirts of a small hamlet, surrounded by sunflowers and vineyards, between Cognac and Bordeaux. Charente is the sunniest region in France next to the Cote d'Azur with lots of long hot days and magnificent sunsets !!places to visit ~~ things to do ~~ there is something for everyone !! but more on that later.
The accomodation provided is of the highest standard and caters for your every need. We welcome small children, extended families, couples or groups of friends ~ in fact everyone is welcome to share in our little bit of paradise !
The Swimming Pool and Wooded Garden. The swimming pool is exclusively for the use of clients. It is 10 x 5 meters with roman steps and is surrounded by a wall with self locking gate for client privacy and the safety of small children. The pool is open from May through to the end of September.
The pool is checked and cleaned daily.
The garden has fruit and nut trees and our own row of vines which provides two types of eating grapes in late summer.
We are surrounded by fields of sunflowers, maize, wheat and of course vines.
there is lots of space for children to safely play ballgames, boules or use the garden swing whilst still in view from the gite terraces.
You can also disappear under a shady tree with a glass of wine to catch up on your reading or just for a snooze !
Details of La Vieille Etable (Sleeping up to 12 )La Vieille Etablewhich has been rated 3 star*** by Charente tourism, is a six bedroomed gite with spacious open-plan living area, a gallery first floor showing the magnificent exposed oak beams at their best and with wonderful country views.
The living area has a central stone fireplace with woodburner, ample seating and a dining table which can accomodate up to 16 people. There is satellite tv, a dvd player(bring along a few favourites) and a box of assorted games for the children. There is also table tennis and table football. Wifi is available throughout the property.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has electric oven, gas hob, microwave, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
there is a shower room with toilet also on the ground floor and two sofa beds for occasional use.
On the gallery first floor are two doulble bedrooms, two twin and two single bedrooms - most with space for an additional childs bed or cot.
There are also two bathrooms and a further shower room so that there is never a queue in the morning.
The gite has a terrace with outdoor seating, and bbq for cooking and eating al-fresco.
All bed linen is included as well as hand and kitchen towels. Two cots and baby equipment including two highchairs are available on request.
Pets may be allowed, subject to certain restrictions.
Details of La Petite Grange (Sleeping 2/4)La Petite Grange which has been 2 star** rated by Charente tourism, is a one bedroomed gite with additional sleeping in the living area on a single day bed or double sofa bed.
It also has exposed beams in the living area as well as a dining table and chairs, fireplace with woodburner, satellite tv, dvd player and a box of games. Wifi is available throughout the property.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine.
The bedroom has twin beds and bathroom en-suite.
The gite also has it's own terrace with traditional bbq and seating for eating outside.
Special requests ? No problem !If you require a cot, highchair, extra childs' bed or perhaps a birthday cake or a supply of food and drinks for your arrival or anything else to make your stay comfortable ~ all you have to do is give us a call and we will be happy to arrange this for you ! Top
