Come and spend a enchanting weekend or a dreamlike break from work in one of the prestigiously appointed charming rooms at the Château de la Charmeraie, only 35 minutes from Lyon or 45 minutes from Saint Etienne and beautifully situated in the Monts du Lyonnais.
Don’t expect to see medieval drapes and crenulated walls with high turrets when you arrive along the drive lined with century old trees - you might be disappointed if that’s the sort austerity you are looking for. As you come through the main gates that will open up automatically for you, you will feel as if you have crossed the threshold into a haven of calm and pleasure.
First of all you will see a beautiful Sienna earth coloured 19th century manor house that resembles a Florentine residential villa more than a feudal fortified castle.
The Château de la Charmeraie is set in a magnificent homely estate of 5. 4 hectares (about 12 acres) completely closed in and protected by high stone walls giving you the freedom to enjoy your whole stay in complete serenity and peace. The driveways and paths are cool and fresh under the twenty-three different types of trees most of which are over a hundred years old. You can have a leisurely stroll to the viewpoint and see a panoramic vista of the Monts du Lyonnais that is reminiscent of a Tuscany landscape.
You will never be disturbed by any noise other than that from the wonderful nature around you. Birdsong, which also, in the mating season, is accompanied by hundreds of love struck frogs expressing their own yearnings in the large lake set in the park surrounding this luxurious residence. No noise from railways or motorcars since the nearest main road is well over a kilometre away from the property.
As you arrive at the main door of the Château de la Charmeraie, situated in the heart of the property, the first decorative creation you see will be the beautiful French style garden with bright white gravel paths that may even dazzle you in the summer light. On hot days the freshness of the ponds with their fountains will cool the air and the soothing sounds of the gently rippling waterfalls will contribute to your comfort.
A private helicopter pad is available within the park (usage during daylight hours only), which allows guests to arrive in complete privacy while also allowing the helicopter to be safely parked on the property.  Top

THE ROOMS
All rooms are equipped with king sized beds – some even with super king sized beds. Very high quality mattresses assure excellent comfort and a good night’s rest. For guest’s security and health, all rooms are No Smoking.
The Renoir suite : This suite comprises a beautiful 30 square metre (300 square feet) room with romantic decoration, a timbered ceiling and a fireplace. An en suite bathroom, a separate toilet and a beautiful private terrace are all part of this suite.
An exceptional super king size bed with a large canopy, draped with warm green coloured veils makes a remarkably romantic feature of this luxurious suite. In autumn and in winter a large fireplace with a windowed hearth enables you to create an atmosphere in which to spend memorable moments in this splendid Renoir suite.
The en suite bathroom is beautifully equipped with both bath and shower, both fitted with thermostatic taps to maintain the water temperature you choose to use and the separate toilet completes the comfort in this suite.
The magnificent 20 square metre (200 square feet) adjoining private terrace dominates the swimming pool, the lake and the park and also affords splendid views of the Monts du Lyonnais right up to the outskirts of Lyon. On clear days you even have a spectacular view of the Mont Blanc in the far away Alps.
The Monet suite : Two separate adjoining rooms each with its own en suite bathroom and its own separate toilet make up this suite. Each room also has a king size bed.
This suite is ideal for a family of four, who want to experience a dream break from home, but it is also suitable for two couples who wish to have communicating rooms. The larger of the two rooms has a beautiful marble fireplace with an enclosed windowed hearth, which allows an atmosphere of warmth and cheerfulness to be created, as the weather gets cooler.
The Sysley room : This room is decorated in unforgettable golden tones giving an atmosphere of perfect composure as soon as you enter the room. A separate bedroom with a king size bed adjoins a small sitting room.
The room has two windows that offer fine views over the Monts du Lyonnais and also towards the outskirts of Lyon and even as far away as the Alps. A pretty fireplace with gold coloured decoration allows guests to create a warm and pleasant atmosphere when it’s cold outside.
A beautiful reproduction of a large work by Sysley (Villeneuve la Garenne) hangs above the bed head. The en suite bathroom has a big bath equipped with thermostatic temperature control taps and there is also a separate toilet complete all your needs for comfort.
The Van Gogh room : This is a pleasant and pretty smaller room (22 square metres – 200 square feet) with a king size bed. The bathroom is also pretty and the bath is fitted with thermostatic temperature regulation taps. A separate toilet completes the fine comfortable fittings of this very well appointed room Top
