Situated in the heart of a small forested area known as the Gâtine Tourangelle, Grand Launay is a farm that once belonged to the Grand Launay château (17th century – a private property).
Just 15 kilometres from the city of Tours, Grand Launay farm offers three tastefully decorated bed and breakfast rooms, situated on the ground floor or the first floor.
In this magnificent setting, you will be able to :
- Enjoy breakfasts, home-made by Laurence, and served in the dining-room with its ancient fireplace.
- Relax in the lounge area which is reserved for guests.
- Have fun with a game or two of table-tennis in the garden, with its fragrant plants.
- Go hiking or cross-country biking on the trails that start from the house (bikes available for hire)
- Relax outside in the garden in the easy chairs that are provided specially for visitors  Top

THE ROOMS
The Green Room : The Green Room is independent. This ground-floor room, which looks out over the countryside, is furnished with a double bed and an extra stowaway bed. The en-suite bathroom has a corner-bath and a toilet.
The Red Room : Situated on the first floor, this room looks out over the garden; it is just opposite the lounge, and is furnished with a double bed. The en-suite bathroom has a shower cabinet and a toilet.
The Blue Room : The Blue Room is also situated on the first floor, next to the Red Room. The view is towards the town of Semblançay. This room is furnished with twin beds. The en-suite bathroom has a shower cabinet and a toilet.
Formerly belonging to the Grand Launay château, the gite is a traditional longhouse, and one of a group of three buildings which include the owners’ house and the bed-and-breakfast rooms, and the barn with its communal ping pong room available for use by all visitors.
The gite contains, on the ground floor, a kitchen and living area (with fireplace, armchairs, tv, telephone, microwave cooker, dishwasher, etc.), a back kitchen (with washing machine, drier, and fridge-freezer), one bedroom (with queen-size bed), a shower room, a bathroom and two toilets. The upstairs floor has the second bedroom (with a queen-size bed and a single bed), and the third and fourth bedrooms (with a connecting door, and each with a queen-size bed).
Also available: cot, central heating if needed (supplement of 7€ to 13€ per day).
The gite comes with a private outdoor area of 1000 sq. M. (with garden furniture and barbecue).
Rental prices include bed linen and logs for the wood-burning fire. Top

The Scénoféerie of Semblançay : 02 47 24 25 80
Just 2 km away, and accessible by footpaths directly from the farm, the «Scénoféerie de Semblançay» is a magnificent historic re-enactment, involving 450 actors, horses, and a music and light show. First presented in 1992, this show now attracts some 10, 000 visitors each year, and is the most thrilling show of its kind in the Loire valley area.
In the magnificent surroundings of the Park of the château de la Source, once the country house of Jacques de Beaune – who was finance minister under king François 1st, – storytellers Honoré Pottier and his grandson Benjamin tell the Story and Legend of La Source.
You will hear the moving voices of famous French actors including Jean Carmet, Richard Bohringer, Yves Rénier and Bernard Menez, who have volunteered to take part in this spectacular evening show.
Hiking and footpaths
There are three nature trails setting off from Grand Launay farm, allowing visitors to discover the wildlife, flora and fauna, of our region. The trails feature interpretive plaques giving details on the trees, the animal life, the aquatic ecosystems and the forest.
There are facilities for picnicking too; a small guide is available at the « Mairie » at Semblançay, or from the farm.
Haras du Soleil riding stables : 02 47 24 25 80
Two kilometres away from the Grand Launay farm, and also directly accessible on footpaths from the farm, the Haras du Soleil riding stables have been open since June 2005. You will be welcomed by Sébastien Fayolle et Jessica Berger 2, who are both skilled riders and qualified instructors.
At the haras du soleil, there are ponies and horses for skilled riders or beginners, both young and old; the friendly staff are happy to welcome all riders and offer riding activities adapted to your level and your expectations.
